$10,000 Fireworks Show Reflects Fireworks On The Track Sponsored By D.B. Miles Agency, Inc

DUNDEE, NY – For Immediate Release – July 1st, 2015 –

This week at Black Rock Speedway D.B. Miles Insurance Agency will present the speedway’s annual $10,000 fireworks program.  Not only will fireworks be tossed into the air, there have been plenty of fireworks on the track recently as well.

The biggest rivalry going into Mid-Season Championship night is in the Modified division.  The competition between point leader Ron Cartwright Jr and ‘The Hurricane’ Steve Paine has been heating up for the better part of the last month on the ‘Fast Four-Tenths-Mile’.  It all culminated last week on the track with both drivers finding themselves racing each other hard several times throughout the 30-lap feature event.

Cartwright enters the July 3rd special with just a one point lead over Paine and Penn Yan, NY pilot Derrick Podsiadlo, who are tied for second.  ‘D-Pods’ had a great second place finish to Alan Johnson last Friday night after losing his brakes early in the event.

On top of it being Fireworks night and Mid-Season Championships, the Modified and 4 Cylinder divisions will also be racing in double features to make up the last of the June 5th rain outs.  With such a close points race in the Modified division, this Friday could be the turning point for any of these three drivers.  This could be a chance for fourth place Brady Fultz and fifth place Cory Costa to make up ground as well.

Steve Gray swept the make up and regularly scheduled features last Friday night to elevate himself to second in the standings to Casey Pavlick.  Pavlick survived last week with a second and third place finish and maintains a 28 point lead over Gray.

The great race in points for the Crate Sportsman is for third through fifth as Dale Welty and Chris Fisher find themselves tied for third.  Chris Silvers in the Elm Chevrolet #7 is only 3 points back in fifth.  This is a battle that will likely come down to championship night on Friday September 4th

It has been a three horse race in the M&M Auto Sales & Service IMCA Modifieds as Keith Lamphere, Rich Karlnoski and Jason Benjamin have separated themselves from the field.  Lamphere was able to stop the bleeding last week with a fourth place finish and holds and 8 point lead over ‘Dick in the Dirt’ Karlnoski.

Benjamin now sits 13 points back of Lamphere in the standings.  One driver to keep your eye on as Mid-Season championship night approaches is Tony Harris in his infamous ‘9cat’ ride.  Harris has been knocking on the door all season long and could take Friday night as an opportunity to finally kick that door open.

Jake Karlnoski took a poor finish in the MRC Street Stock make up feature Friday as motivation to dominate and win the regularly scheduled feature event.  He had to hold off point leader Jared Hill in the final set of corners to pick up the victory in the night’s most exciting finish.

Hill in his Creekside Racing, Creekside Entertainment #93 survived double feature night with finishes of 10th and 2nd to extend his point lead out to a full race of 30 points.  Geneva, NY pilot CJ Guererri took advantage of Tracy Dunn’s bad luck to elevate to second in points.  Nate Daggett, Tracy Dunn and Chuck Winslow round out the top five in the race for the championship and a 2016 MRC chassis.

Rich Sharpsteen in the Flyin’ X has kept the train on the tracks all season long in the NAPA Know How 4 Cylinders and now takes a 32 point lead into double feature night this Friday.  With Rick Horton falling out of the race due to injury, Chad Ayers leap frogged the Bradford, NY driver and sets his sights now on Sharpsteen.  Jayson Smart is one point behind Ayers in third, with these three drivers being the class of the field.

Codie Baker pulled the upset by winning in a Front Wheel Drive in the combined 4 Cylinder division.  Joe Povoski was impressive in a fill-in role for Horton and could be a force to reckon with while driving the #4.  Although Povoski isn’t a factor in the points race, there is still enough room for more Black Rock Speedway winner’s hardware in Bradford.

Jeff Daugherty continued his dominance Friday night with yet another win in the Creekside Entertainment Bandit division.  It was a thrilling race between Daugherty, Brandon Kinner and Billy Bowers.  These three drivers are getting faster each week and have proved that the future of racing in Dundee is bright.

Do not miss Black Rock Speedway’s $10,000 Fireworks Show this Friday night sponsored by D.B. Miles Insurance Agency along with double features for the Modifieds and 4 Cylinders.  A weekly racing program of Modifieds, Crate Sportsman, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, 4 Cylinders and Bandits will also fill the card.

General admission for this monster show is just $15 for adults, $13 for seniors, $13 for ages 12-17 and children under 12 are always free at Black Rock Speedway.  Pit gates swing open at 4PM, grandstands open at 5PM with Scott Hixson’s green flag waving for the first time at 7PM sharp.  The Fireworks will go off at the first opportunity for a break in the racing action after the skies go dark.
